Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils derived from plants. The stems, flowers, wood, roots or branches are used. Countries from around the world grow these plants and the oils are steam distilled, cold pressed or a few other methods are used to obtain the oils. In the time of the Plague in Europe the people who had to care for the dying and bury the dead wore cones over their noses filled with essential oils to cover the stench of decaying bodies. These people did not get sick and it became apparent the oils had antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties that protected them.
Many of the oils used today are for their wonderful odors rather than their medicinal properties. You might remember the smell of an apple pie baking in the oven with cinnamon and nutmeg, when you were a kid. Those sweet smells of your youth come flying back in an instance with one scent of cinnamon and nutmeg. This event happens because your limbic system in your brain is hardwired to your emotions and memory when triggered with aroma. Therapeutic aromatherapy is made of 100% pure essential oils of which organic is the best and most expensive! The oils have to be therapeutic grade to be medicinal.
Raindrop therapy uses seven essential oils from the herb family and two blends. This therapy was created by John Young founder of Youngliving essential oil company. The technique helps to remove toxins and relax muscles along the spine and helps to remove stress.
This "candle" is made of slender waxed strips of cloth that are formed into a tapered funnel that looks like a long candle called a taper. The pointed end is placed in the ear while you lay on a massage table with your head on a pillow. The therapist lights the other end and allows it to burn down about one inch then cuts that end off after every inch of burning. The heat melts the ear wax and draws it up the taper and the ear is clean. It is painless, very relaxing and works well.
